he's got his hand in your chest he wants to give you a duff, well secretly i think they want it all to kick off
it's a curious thing that outside of south america people think of colombia as this scary, dangerous, lawless place. i just finished watching the shield (which as an aside has one of the best endings to a television show i've ever seen) and one of the characters was a fugitive with a plan to escape to colombia. i think they chose that country because people had preconceptions of it being a criminal haven perfect for fugitives but all i could think was, well it's gonna be a step up from los angeles. particularly the los angeles presented in the shield. and after spending so much time in this continent it's funny how the reputation of colombia is so different here. the majority of travellers who have visited multiple countries in south america say that colombia is their favourite. colombians are regarded, by both gringos and south americans, to be the friendliest nationality in the continent. i spent over 3 months in a bunch of different places and did not feel unsafe once... well apart from that time when i was underwater but that's different. colombia knows this negative perception isn't shared with the people that visit the country and promote tourism with the slogan the only risk is wanting to stay. and i can't really argue with that.

these scary looking guys were part of a film set that i stumbled onto... although i don't think i was certain of that when i took the photo. anyways here's the original
