and the world may be long for you, but it'll never belong to you, but on a motorbike, when all the city lights blind your eyes tonight, are you feeling better now?
after i watched sea of bees play at union chapel i read that ben gibbard was due to play shortly afterwards at the same venue. he was promoting his new solo album, which to be honest i wasn't a massive fan of, however i checked out a few of his recent setlists and saw that he peppered his set with death cab for cutie and postal service songs. i'd seen death cab before, but never the postal service, and got excited about the prospect of seeing them stripped down and live. i had to resort to ebay as the concert was already sold out but it was worth paying that little bit more to hear such great heights and the district sleeps along tonight for the first time live. he also played a brilliant cover of blur's sweet song - a tune i always forget about (perhaps partly because of the dismissive title) but is one of the great blur songs of the last ten years. excitingly i recently managed to get my hands on some tickets for a postal service reunion tour so it looks like i'll be hear more live versions of their songs in the not too distant future - it's good to be back in a country where there's a wide choice of live music.
