all simple monkeys with alien babies, amphetamines for boys and crucifixes for ladies
there's a strange juxtaposition in gruyeres where you have beautiful scenery with a 1000 year old castle and then the works of the swiss artist hr giger. it's strange because giger's work itself is very strange. most of his pieces have a sci-fi, futuristic vibe to it - but more than that it can display pretty graphic themes in terms of sex, violence and death. it's not everyones cup of tea, particularly you would think for the type of people who visit picturesque, medieval villages in the swiss mountains. then again i thought the location and the artwork held within were both beautiful, only in very different ways. his most well known creation is of the eponymous character from the movie alien - for which he was awarded an oscar for visual effects. this photo is a close up of the sculpture birth machine which depicts a series of 'bullet babies' loaded into a gun - so yeah, that's the kinda vibe i'm talking about.
