i know you cut me loose in contradiction, i know i'm all wrapped up in sweet attrition, i know it's asking for your benediction, i know, i know
there's quite a lot going on in this image: a foreboding entrance to a mine, a dead llama on the ground outside, a trail of blood and a concerned looking child. you could probably take all of these elements and create a pretty scary story. i'm thinking a mysterious mine monster with an insatiable bloodlust is devouring the livestock before moving onto the humans. the reality, or at least the myth which influences the reality, is that the humans sacrifice the llamas to appease the spirit inside the mine and keep them safe while they work. the non-mythological reality is that the conditions inside the mine are so poor that the average life expectancy of a miner is just 40 years - now that truly is scary.
