gold light breaks behind the houses, i don't see what's strange about this, tiny bubbles hang above me, it's a sign that someone loves me
when i travel with work i often get to visit, and stay in, lots of fancy hotels. it always feels a bit strange as they're not the kind of place i would normally stay when i'm away from home. that's partly for financial reasons as there's no way i could afford the crazy costs, but also because i much prefer somewhere like a hostel which has a more open and sociable vibe with people similar to myself. but of course there are obvious benefits, and when you're knackered from working 18 hour days you do appreciate having somewhere comfortable to rest. i was fortunate when i was in marrakech that i stayed in a really nice mini apartment which had pretty much everything i could ask for. but my favourite hotel was a place i only visited a couple of times: la sultana. while it was still high-end, it was considerably smaller than my residence, but what it lacked in size it more than made up for in style and character. the corridors were a lot more narrow, full of repeating archways and the whole building seemed a little misshapen in a really charming way. if this wasn't enough to persuade me the food that they served (and i ate a few minutes after taking this photo) was the best meal i had in the country.
