i was in madagascar when arsenal's group for the champions league was announced. i was worried that we would be sharing it with the best team in the world, bayern munich, but not too concerned about the other two teams. i should have been as we lost out first two games to these 'weaker' teams to lie at the bottom of the table. i went to the stadium
to see us play against bayern in october, and miraculously we beat them in what was one of the best games i've ever seen live. qualifying was still a long way off, but every arsenal fan was just enjoying the moment. we were right to enjoy that
moment, as when we went to munich we were humiliated 5-1 and once again it looked like we were screwed. however a victory in our next match meant that we came into tonight's game needing to win by a margin of 2 goals to qualify. i can happily report that we did it by 3 and qualified to the knockout stages for the 16th consecutive year. of course winning the competition is a long, long, long way off, but right now i'm just enjoying the moment.
