highway to the danger zone, gonna take you right into the danger zone
last week i posted a silly picture of some new york city cops and decided against going on a rant about the state of policing in the united states. then a couple of days ago i woke up to read an article with the headline los angeles deputy shoots partner, blames suspect; both kill suspect in retaliation. the article begins "a disturbing video emerged friday showing two los angeles sheriff's deputies killing a man after they had chased him for riding a bicycle while wearing headphones.". it seems as though the only reason this is a story is because someone just happened to be recording it on their phone. what i find really disturbing is how many of these crimes the police force must have got away with before cameraphones were able to shine a little light on their abhorrent actions.
