expecting to fly

expecting to fly
there you stood on the edge of your feather, expecting to fly, while i laughed i wondered whether, i should wave goodbye, knowing that you'd gone
i remember being amazed a few years ago when i saw an article online with photos of flying peacocks. looking back now i'm not sure why i was so surprised. they're birds, so that's already a pretty big advantage. plus i know that they sleep in the trees in holland park. i'm not entirely sure how i thought they got up to the trees if it wasn't for flight, to be honest any alternative would be far more impressive. i guess logic didn't come into it, which is also my excuse as to why i failed to capture the moment the peacock flew from this wall to an overhanging tree branch. something to reach for in next year's visit.
