arbol de piedra - extra image
this was one of the many cool natural sights, like the
palindromic lake, in between
san pedro de atacama and the
salar. it's called
arbol de piedra which translates as stone tree - for obvious reasons. i forget how the rocks came to exist in these weird shapes, something to do with volcanic erosion maybe, but it's a really unusual sight - particularly in the middle of a seemingly barren desert. me gusta.
