on thursday night the shower in our bathroom stopped working and the water wouldn't turn off. it's a mixer tap where you rotate it left for hot, right for cold, pull it up to turn on and, in theory, push it down to turn off. only it would not turn off until we pushed it so much that the top of it came off in our hands. bugger. so i turned off the water at the pipes and took it the top of it back to the shop in order to get a replacement.
once i was there they told me that they couldn't replace it as i must have broken it myself, therefore it wasn't covered by warranty. i explained that the water wouldn't turn off which is why we had pushed down on the tap forcing it to come off but they said that no-one else had ever come in with this problem so that couldn't have happened. plus the fact that it has been working fine for 5 months means that it can't be faulty. mind-bending logic. i kept arguing and he kept going off to 'have a word' with his colleague behind a door before coming out again and refusing to exchange it.
pissed off i left the shop and phoned my girlfriend at work to tell her what they said. i gave her their phone number and she said she would sort it out. sure enough a few hours later she phoned me back saying she had refused to back down and annoyed them so much that they had to give us a new one. feeling pretty emasculated i went back to the shop and picked up the new tap.
anyway if they had offered me a replacement straight away and not kept me waiting around then i wouldn't have taken this picture which is of a £200+ mirror with lights around the edge. inside the mirror is another mirror reflecting those lights so that they stretch out into the distance. it looked pretty tacky and pretty cool at the same time. i wanted to try and get a shot of the effect without my reflection in it so i took a shot from each side and the joined them together in photoshop. you can see the original two shots as well.
