i hardly ever use the flash on my camera, and when i do i'm almost always unhappy with the results. unless i'm going for a certain effect, like the ghosting image it just seems to make everything look unnatural. to the extent that i prefer a blurry, dark image to the same lit up by flash. i'm sure this is all because i'm no good at lighting things. however this image is an rare exception where the flash really helped make a better shot when the light was disappearing - it was taken a little further on from the lily pond outside our hotel in south africa
