this was taken in the grounds of chatsworth - a short walk from the church. i'm assuming that at one point all the walls were standing and the stairs and door lead somewhere. as it is there's now a pretty sizable drop when you get to the top. when i saw this it made me think of the staircase in the muppet song halfway down the stairs - i always found it slightly disturbing that he was sitting on a staircase that didn't lead anywhere - thinking about it halfway up/down is probably be the safest place to be.
