when i took this photo i'm pretty sure that i was told that they were 'bee orchids'. however, looking on trusty wikipedia it seems that they actually look quite different. so, i'm not exactly sure what to call these, other than 'not orchids'.

thanks to mr murdock on flickr i can confirm that these are definitely not orchids but 'bistort' flowers. glad this didn't turn into a dann gallucci fiasco!
