the
death cab for cutie gig was the first time i'd taken my new slr camera to a concert. i was doubtful whether i'd actually be allowed in with it, but i spread it out over a couple of pockets and managed to get it inside. i then intended to get as close as possible to take some good shots, but left it a little late to venture forwards so only managed this far. as i was watching the gig and taking pictures i noticed that the door to the toilets was to the left of the front of the stage, so in theory there should be some space there to get some closer shots. of course there might not be, which would mean i'd lose my current spot. i debated moving, and decided to stay where i was, until the encore when i made my move. it turns out that there was a space, and as i lined up a shot i cursed myself for not getting there earlier. at that exact moment a security guard pulled me to one side and told me to put my camera away. it would have been a fruitless argument to point out the hundreds of other (non-slr) cameras people were using so i put it back in my pocket and sulked back to my previous spot. i then took it back out of my pocket and took this shot - i know, i'm such a rebel!
