last night i went down to leeds cockpit to see brendan benson. i'm a big fan of his and surprised that he's not more successful or well known. he has a real talent at writing a catchy, poppy melody which to me seems like it should be really accessible and popular. he's probably better known for being the other bloke in jack white's band aka the raconteurs, which i never found anywhere near as impressive. because of this side project i hadn't seen him play a gig as himself for over four years - so long in fact that i can't even link to a photo as it was in the pre-photoblog days. it was a long time coming but good to see him live again.
