this is part of the worlds most dangerous road, a mountain bike trail i road down in bolivia. i know, i know, it doesn't look all that dangerous here - but once you get around the corner the seemingly infinite drops on the left hand side don't seem like the safest thing in the world. i was understandably apprehensive about riding on a trail called death road, particularly as i don't mountain bike on a regular basis - i've probably done it twice in... well ever. in a strange way this worked to my favour, as instead of being supremely confident, and potentially cocky or complacent, i just took it really steady and erred on the side of caution... and on the side away from the cliff. unfortunately we had to ride cliff side as we had to keep an eye out for any vehicles driving towards us, so that kept the heart beating pretty fast.
