it was over two years ago that i last saw modest mouse, and looking back at a post i made after the gig i'm happy to report that most of the points have been matched or improved upon when i saw them last night. this time the sound, er, sounded great, i knew more of the songs, i was (almost) right at the front, they played one of my two aforementioned favourite songs (black cadillacs since you asked again) and once more i got a copy of the setlist after the show. isaac seemed on good form, a lot less 'wired' than last time. he come out and made an apology that he'd lost his voice, he said we'd have to use our imaginations as he usually "sounds like a fucking angel". he then proceeded to yelp and scream out about twenty songs in his own inimitable style.
