this is one of the many, many pigeons that congregate outside of the saint francis monastery, or convento de san francisco, in lima, peru. there were hundreds of flying rodents zipping around, it reminded me of london, yet this familiarity didn't stop me taking pictures of them. i was trying to catch them frozen in flight, but i found it really tricky as they were moving so fast. i had to try and move the camera at the same speed as the birds, at the same time as manually focussing because the auto focus wasn't quick enough. i must have spent a good ten minutes snapping away, and only ended up with a handful of decent shots, this being my favourite even though the pigeon was facing away from the camera.
