i've already posted a picture of what a mini reed island looks like, well here's a bigger version. i took this standing on some kind of reedy watchtower at one corner of the island. as you can see, it's not the biggest place in the world, but it is a home to the family that showed us around. it's mental to think that the houses, the boats and the island itself are all made out of the same material. and none of those are permanent structures, as the reeds eventually break down, so they all need constant maintenance, with the island having to be completely rebuilt every decade. mental.
