on monday i went to hamburg in germany with work. if that sounds pretty cool, that's because it was pretty cool, but also pretty rare. my only previous out of the office experience since i started two years ago was to lancashire, and i'd be very surprised to see any more trips coming up in the near future. regardless, i was grateful for the excursion where my role was essentially as a postman. we had produced a video about the europa league (aka the uefa cup) and needed to get it to hamburg where on tuesday the previous winners handed the trophy over to the city hosting the final. amends to the video came at the last minute, and according to calculations too complex for me to understand, it worked out cheaper to send someone (me) to deliver it instead of getting a courier. as this was such a simple task, it meant a fleeting visit, so i didn't get to see an awful lot of the city. however the perks included eating in one of the fanciest
restaurants i'd been to in quite a while, and staying in one of the fanciest
hotels i'd slept in for even longer. what i did see of the city impressed me, i've been to
berlin before, and i must say that germany has a lot going for it. just a shame about the language, or to be more precise my lack of understanding of the language. someone should really step up the search for the
