this is an der alster 1, an office building just down the road/lake from the hotel where i stayed in hamburg. i really like the boldness of this building, which is something i don't think you'd see a lot of in england. i think some people will love it and some people will hate it, which would usually be an argument to go for something safer and blander. but clearly these germans thought fuck it, and went ahead with their original idea. good for them - more weird buildings please.
